Oh the Games I've Played...

Email Me Biff on Twitter -
Shark Week came and went and I still have no pic to show for it. Thankfully, I called the series 'Shark Week Aftermath' so lateness is almost built in, right? Right?!

Yeah... I spent some of my off time sketching ideas and fixing the script. I really spent most it playing a game I've waited a couple of years to play - Dust: An Elysian Tail. I've been interested in this game since I heard about it back in 2009. Being a damn-near one man project, its time frame was a lot longer than say a Castlevania (the closest comparison I and many others can come up with gameplay-wise) but it was So worth it! O.O

The combat is fantastic, the story is neat and the looks? Man oh man, the artwork on this is stunning. Just check out this trailer.

If you have a 360 and you're looking for a damn fine Arcade title, I can't recommend Dust enough. The voice acting could use some work and Fidget - Dust's little flying sidekick - can get annoying at times but these are Nothing compared to just how smooth this game plays and how much fun it is to chain combos or go through an area without really touching the ground. Bonus: It's beautiful!

From the backgrounds to the characters themselves, the whole thing is so easy on the eyes. In a time when most major studios are trying to outdo each other in how many shades of dirt brown they can use for their big titles, it's a joy to see a good game coming from an Indie with a strong understanding of color. Don't let its looks fool you. This game plays a lot like old school action titles and can be a challenge at times. I learned quickly that the auto-save spots and the health items are your friends. = P

Back to work on the comic. I'll save anymore gaming until After my work is done this week.

'Till next time! = )
