Soon...

Email Me Biff on Twitter -
Halloween is coming up so quickly now that it's really almost here. I can taste the ill-gotten candy already!

One of the things I love to do while I work is watch shows and movies. I figure this would be as good a time as any to hip people to some of my fave spooky films. = )

Here we go!

- Pontypool:

Fantastic twist on the idea of a Zombie film. The events in the small town of Pontypool and the way it plays out from moment to moment keep things incredibly interesting without playing into the current "Just Throw Red At The Screen and Scream"-style many current horror films go with these days.

- The Blob (1988):

Although I love the original 1958 version, the 80's version is pretty solid. Some of the more 80's elements don't hold up as well (a couple of characters are very much 80's characters) but the visuals are great. Practical special effects at their most interesting. = )

- Altered States

Another trippy special effects heavy 80's film. Not exactly spooky so much as it messes with your head. If you don't mind a film it helps to watch more than once to catch everything that's going on in it, you might just dig Altered States. Bonus: The end scenes of Aha's "Take On Me" were an homage to the end of the film.

As for normal business stuff, don't forget to drop by DriveThru Comic's Halloween Sale for 33% off a ton of excellent titles. While you're in the buying mood, drop by Gumroad and pick up a copy of the Ghouls'R Gals Monster Girl collection. Lastly, the Halloween Midnight Movie Marathon is this Friday (Halloween!). The films start around Midnight but the pre-show shorts start around 11:30pm Eastern Time. I'll pop everything here before the show starts.

'Till next time! = D
