This story bit it proof that, sometimes, playing video games Can help work get done. = )

Take Biff's setup right here. It's a single item away from what I have. I have an import copy of Gundam Wing: Endless Duel for the Super Famicom that I got years ago when I was still tabling at ConnectiCon. I play it in my regular ol' Super Nintendo. I used my SF cart in my SNES (as well as looking at my SNES Classic) as reference for this setup.

Say what you will about the SF/SNES but I like the look of the SF carts better. Same goes with the colors on the controllers but I have yet to get my grubby paws on one... yet.

Now, you might wonder why I have a Japanese import game or how - like Biff - I could play it in a SNES.

Well... I found out years ago that the SNES has two little plastic bits in the cart slot as its region protection solution. Nothing in software that needs to be patched. Nothing on-board that needs to be bypassed. Just two flimsy posts that snap off with very little effort and are only seen if you look directly into the cartridge slot. That's it. Popping those out was the easiest mod I ever did. = )

As for playing my copy of Gundam Wing without knowing a lick of Japanese? From playing the English patched ROM for years before getting a proper physical copy of the game, I knew it really didn't have much in the way of text I Absolutely needed to understand to play it. It's a 2D fighting game with basic 2D fighting game rules and familiar iconography. It's perfectly playable without needing a translation.

Biff's wireless controller is the piece I really want, though. Thankfully, it's not just a "Lazy artist didn't want to draw a cord" thing. The company 8Bitdo has a proper wireless SF/SNES controller and a wireless receiver that fits in the SF/SNES controller ports. They just fetch XBone/PS4 controller prices and the SF version is usually out-of-stock. Kinda' hard to get one but it (and the Sega Genesis one) is on my list of 'Gaming Stuff to Get'.

Now to get up, stretch and rinse out my coffee cup lest I end up sipping on the same old cold coffee I almost drank a minute ago.

'Till next time! = )
