Quickie Tips for Halloween

Email Me Biff on Twitter -
Earlier this month, I received an email from a teacher about some research one of their students was doing. That student - Brianna - found some interesting Special FX makeup tips that are pretty neat and perfect for Halloween. Never one to let a fun idea slip away, I did some research myself.

One good tip deserves another, right? = )

Here's the link I received: Cool FX Makeup for Halloween

These are some quick and easy makeup tips that are surprisingly cheap to pull off. You can scoop most of the things discussed at a big box store or a local pharmacy. The fancier FX makeup stuff mentioned should still be available at most places with a Halloween costume gear display.

Now... SFX makeup is great but it needs something else. A quick and easy costume like these: 5 EPIC & Easy Halloween Costumes - HOW TO (Punished Props)

These May be a little more expensive than the previous tips but they are Technically quick to do. A great idea would be use the shopping tips from the folks over at Punished Props and combine them with the SFX makeup tips from BH Cosmetics to make your own creation. The scars/cuts and melting face makeup ideas would work great with PP's Wastelander idea. It'd give it a more post-apocalyptic, possibly post-nuclear disaster feel to it.

And since I'm in the mindset... here's how I made the dirt simple "Costume" I've been using since college:

- Get yourself one of those Bunny headband and tail sets. The cheaper, the better. Just make sure it works for you as I know there are some with interesting fabric patterns or neat faux fur colors.

- Get yourself a cheap costume hat. I went with something that was billed as a Gothic Top Hat but any hat will do. I went with a top hat because I wanted one anyway and I really liked the look.

- Remove the Bunny ears from the band. Why ruin a perfectly good headband? Well... with the ears off it, you can do the next step.

- Position the Bunny ears on your hat. I had them come out from underneath so they slightly cover my own ears but you could just as well stick them to the sides pointing up like they're poking out of it. Heck, you could slice holes in the hat and Really make them poke out from it. A little hot glue, tape or some quick stitching will keep it all in place as it's not likely to be too beaten up when worn.

And that's it! = D

I simply rock my hat with bunny ears and I wear the tail. It's a fast and simple solution to having to sit comfortably through night classes or being at work on Halloween without being fully dressed up and dealing with all the complications a full-on fancy outfit brings. My design also works if I pin the tail to the underside of the hat's brim. That way it looks like I'm a magician who's bunny doesn't quite fit inside.

It's nice, easy and simple. = )

A special thanks to Brianna and her teacher, Abby, for the email. I've been incredibly lax in the Halloween stuff I do. Many a year has passed where I had great big costume ideas that fail due to a lack of time or energy to do them. Simple things like a neat SFX makeup job and some old distressed clothes can go a long way for helping you make the most out of your Halloween (or just making a low budget Zombie movie).

Now I'm off to get do some artwork and Maybe get ahead on the next proper strip in this story bit.

'Till next time! = D

A Quick Post

Email Me Biff on Twitter -
Ha HA! Video issues. -.-

I'm currently exporting another Drawlloween video for the third time tonight. I'm getting a strange hiccup in the final version and spent my night chasing issues. So long, in fact, that the thing I Wanted to post got pushed aside.

I'll drop that post tomorrow or Thursday. It's an idea that came from an email I received a bit ago (read: Earlier this month) and I wanted to add to it. That means research. That means time I ended up spending on trying to figure out why in the world the Cross Dissolve on my vids title is Suddenly pausing halfway through but only after it's all rendered despite having as much of my system resources being freed up to let it bake. >.<

Yeah...

On the Plus Side:

- I'm making progress on all of this video stuff.

- I'm getting lighter in my sketches so I'm not drawing on one piece of paper and leaving an imprint on two more.

- I found a way to try and get myself back down toward an one hour time limit on the Drawlloween pics using my unholy backlog of podcasts.

That's all for now. Prophet Needs Food Badly. -.-

'Till next time.
