Old Formats...

Email Me Biff on Twitter -
Being the fan of older tech that I am, I love watching YouTube channels like 'Techmoan' and his various vids on random older formats. Sometimes it's stuff from a decade or two ago like Pocket Rockers or Minidiscs. You know... something folks around my age would recognize or at least the bulk of us would have a passing memory of having and/or using.

Other times, it's older tech going back a while like a Reel-to-Reel tape deck or 8-Tracks. Stuff that folks my age may have less experience with. My folks had an 8-track deck that I don't Think I ever used but I Did save most of their records and have a small collection of my own.

This vid... it falls into a different category. It's about the Edison Cylinder and someone having made new music on it. = )

This is funny to me for two reasons:

1) There's no way ordinary folks could play this. To my knowledge, no one makes brand new Edison Cylinder players at scale and I don't think the average person could whip one up out of off the shelf parts in a pinch.

2) I made the joke about Apple going this vintage with their (at the time) latest iPod WAY Back in 2009. -> [Comic LinkTastic!]

It's a fun episode to watch. Now I'm off to work on the second half of the double decker follow-up to this strip (and final piece in this story bit).

Remember: Stay Safe. Wear a Mask. Get vaccinated if you can. Get a booster if you're already good on that.

'Till next time! = )
