Building Plastic Mechs for Fun and Prophet...

Email Me Prophet on Twitter Prophet on Bluesky -
With everything just stacking up and sucking in ways that are normally only seen in the physics defying hearts of Black Holes, I spent a little time this July 4th dipping into my Gunpla Backlog. = D

This time around, I built the HG RX-178 Gundam Mk-II (21st Century Real Type Vers.).

For those still with me but are massively confused:

- That's a High Grade kit so larger than my Super Deformed (SD) kits but smaller and less complicated than my Master Grade (MG) kits.

- It's the RX-178 Gundam Mark 2. That's one of the Hero machines from Gundam Z, the follow-up to the Mobile Suit Gundam series. It's bigger and boxier and I tend to dig its design more than the OG Gundam.

- The "21st Century Real Type Version" stuff is an neat little thing Bandai has been doing for their mechs. It's color scheme is less toyetic and more like a real world military painted it. In this case, it's a lot of bluish grey with areas of black, dark blue, metallic gold and gunmetal. Very much colors I'd be painting it without me having to do so.

For the full breakdown and A Bunch of goofy pics, you can find that Build Blog post here. -> https://tmblr.co/Zx2g8RhmYDNMyu00

The short version of it all is I had fun. If I find a regular version of the Mk.II, I'm more likely to pick it up and maybe do some mods to it. The design is nice and the quality of the build is worth the price (for me).

Now I'm off to finish cleaning off my Art Desk so I can get back to the next strip. This little break to kinda' clear my head and prevent me from saying anything actionable about current world events online was a success. I'm now feeling better, my Backlog is down by One (a feat in and of itself), and I'm ready to tackle the next strip. = )

Remember: Stay Safe. Wear a Mask if you need to. Get vaccinated if you can (Seriously!). Get a booster if you're already good on all that. And remember to keep your head up.

'Till next time! = )
