Like many a comic book geek, I went to the theaters and saw it. Peeped it yesterday, actually. = )
As far as spoilers, you will get none from me. If you're a fan of the comics, you probably know the bulk of the film and that's what makes it great! New really surprising stuff, no random twists, no real big changes to make it palatable to the non-comic reading audience. It Doesn't Suck.
I know, I know... "But Proph! What bout Spider-man 3, the Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider? Those were good, right?"
You saw those films. You just made my point. Never understood the massive changes to make a comic-to-movie transfer good for the Regular Joe. Most comics are just that - books written and read by the Regular Joe. No need to change things, just start at the beginning and go forward.
As for Iron Man, it was a blast. The comedy was top notch and Robert Downey Jr. works as Tony Stark. Tony was the billionaire industrialist playboy turned hero that he is in the comics and cartoon. He fit the character almost like he had been custom built to play him. Conspiracy theories aside, the story is tight and dead on. This begins to make up for the last couple of bombs.
Now, lets all hope that the new Hulk can keep up the good film trend from Marvel. 'Till next time!
